How To Add Composite Panels To The Wall
Jun 25, 2024
With the advancement in education and continuous development of science and technology, new types of decoration materials have entered our lives. These materials come in various shapes, rich colors, and are lightweight. Wood-plastic wall panels are one of the typical representatives. Known as ecological wood, these panels are resistant to deformation, moisture, insects, and ants, and have certain environmental protection properties. They are beautiful, available in a variety of colors, and have a wide range of applications. Typically used for three-dimensional wall effects and indoor background wall decoration, they are a great alternative to anti-corrosion wood materials.
Today, we'll show you how to add composite panels to your wall.
Tools Needed:
Electric drill: Essential for the installation process; due to the brittleness of wood-plastic material, always lead holes with an electric drill before screwing.
Nail gun: Useful for fixing the wallboard.
Ordinary woodworking tools: Needed throughout the installation process.
Protective gloves: Recommended for safety.
Stainless steel screws: Preferred for fixing panels due to their durability and resistance to rust.
Installation Steps:
Prepare the Wall:
Ensure the plaster walls are clean, dry, flat, and free of debris before starting the installation.
Fix the Plastic Wood Keel:
Arrange the plastic-wood keels evenly and fix them on the flat wall using plastic expansion pipes. It is recommended to leave a 40 cm gap between each keel.
The keel joints should have a 5mm gap to accommodate expansion.
Drill holes on the keel corresponding to the expansion tube positions. The hole diameter should be slightly smaller than the stainless steel screw diameter. Screw the screws into the drilled holes to secure the keel to the wall. Ensure all nail heads are embedded into the keel to avoid an uneven wall panel surface.
Fix the Wall Panel:
Cut the wallboard into shapes and sizes as per design requirements.
Begin by using stainless steel or wooden fasteners at the starting position to secure the first panel. Drill small holes in the wood-plastic nailing parts and fix them to the keel with corresponding screws. Continue this process for all panels.
Install Edge or Corner Sealing:
Use "L" shaped edge banding for edge or corner sealing. Fix it with stainless steel screws or copper nails to prevent rusting.
It's advisable to have at least two construction workers for the installation, as the material can be brittle and lacks sufficient toughness.
Drainage and Swelling Considerations:
The water absorption rate of plastic wood material is about 0.2%, with an expansion rate of approximately 0.5%. Leave a 3-4mm gap between each panel to allow for thermal expansion and contraction.
Professional Installation Recommendation:
Due to the professionalism required in the installation, it is recommended to hire professional construction personnel. Always adhere to local construction regulations and guidelines for best results.
