How To Determine The Quality Of Plywood

(1) It is necessary to know that plywood has positive and negative sides. The plywood should have a clear wood grain, the front should be bright and smooth, not rough, and should be flat and non-stagnant. There are positive and negative sides of the splint.

(2) Understand the good and bad characteristics of plywood. The plywood should not have defects such as damage, bumps, hard injuries, and knots. Resin and black grey skin within 15 mm in length should be less than 4 per square meter; resin with length 150 mm and width 10 mm should be less than 4 per square meter; the number of horny knots (living knots) should be Fewer than 5, and the area is less than 15 square millimeters; there is no dense hair drying phenomenon and cracks exceeding 200mm x 0.5mm.

(3) Feel it with your hands. Lift one side of the plywood with both hands, and feel whether the board is flat, even, and has no twisting and warping tension.

(4) Pay attention to the seams. Some plywood is made by pasting two veneers with different textures together, so pay attention to whether the seams of the plywood are tight and whether there are unevenness.

(5) Pay attention to the plywood that has been glued. If the sound is brittle when knocking on various parts of the plywood, it proves that the quality is good. If the sound is dull, it means that the plywood has become loose. Or use a wooden stick of about 50 cm to lift the plywood and hit all parts lightly. If the sound is even and loud, it is basically the best board; or internal quality defects caused by bubbling, etc. This kind of board can only be used as a fabric board or a top and bottom plate, not as a fabric.

(6) Pay attention to whether the plywood has a color difference. The plywood should have no significant discoloration and chromatic aberration, the color should be the same, and the texture should be the same.

(7) Pay attention to the harmony between wood color and furniture paint color. Generally, ash and basswood plywood are light yellow and can be used to make furniture. Basswood plywood is divided into shades, and there is no problem with light color finishing, but dark colors can only be used to make water chestnut-colored furniture, not light yellow furniture, otherwise the color of the furniture will be dark. Although the dark color can be washed with ammonia water, the effect after treatment is not ideal, and the color of the furniture will still change color and darken after several years of use.
